Cost and payment

Psychotherapy is an positive investment in you, your relationships and your health.  Cost is $100 per session.  Cash or check preferred. I can also take health savings account cards.

Check with your human resources department to see if your employer has an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This can give you several free therapy visits to see what it is like (your employer won’t know you are using this benefit).

I can also take some insurance plans. If you want to use your medical insurance, contact me so we can discuss if this is possible and what your co-pay might be.

If I have insurance why wouldn’t I use it?

The fact is, seeking mental health services does not mean you are ill. It means you are taking care of your health. Our health insurance system is built on the concept of illness. The use of medical insurance requires a diagnosis. A diagnosis can become a pre-existing condition.

Not using insurance allows therapy to be seen as good self care, an avenue for personal growth, a way to navigate relationships or something healthy you do for yourself.  We have a little more freedom to use therapy in a way that serves you the best. Therapy is an investment. It can change your life and your relationships.

The use of insurance can become a philosophical question.  Sometimes philosophy is just that and practicality wins. We do what we need to.  Contact me with questions.
